Senator Manny Villar's CAMELLA HOMES: "...we do not allow MUSLIM OCCUPANTS..." , An act of discrimination, isn't it?

CAMELLA HOMES is one of the newest and most prestigious subdivisions now here in General Santos City. Most of us already knew that this is owned by Senator MANNY VILLAR who is running for the presidency these coming 2010 elections.

We were convinced by their commercials and advertisements especially my aunt. She was the one who planned to acquire a unit at camella together with my father. One of the sales representatives accommodated us and kept on encouraging us to acquire a unit at camella, he even accompanied us during the area preview. We like the place and we were all excited to have one. Just when everything was set, kulang na lang magbayad na kmi ng downpayment,.. a very disappointing news came to us…

"..WE DO NOT ALLOW MUSLIM OCCUPANTS TO OWN A UNIT AT CAMELLA..", this was one of the statements that the sales representative told us. This statement almost breaks my heart, a clear manifestation of an actual discriimination to us muslims! I couldn't believe that it happened, eto pla yung sinasabi nilang discrimination. It was my first time to experience that, it was so unfair, and we were all dissappointed! Bakit naman ganon? We don't deserve to be treated like that! We don't have any contagious diseases that will harm other people. Just because we are Muslims, we are not allowed to live there? Why?? Who are they to judge us? In the eyes of GOD, all of us are equal, whether you are Muslim, a Christian, or whatever religion you have.. Not all muslims are bad! Why are they always connecting us to the wrong doings of others?! That was such an insult to the dignity and honor of our family and to all the muslim community. Matatanggap ko pa sana if they questioned our financial capabilities, but not because we are muslims! We can afford to buy millions worth of properties because we worked hard for it.

Dapat sana sa umpisa pa lang ipinaalam na nila na my ganon silang guideline sa camella, they should have been included in all their advertisements that CAMELLA HOMES is a NON-MUSLIM community para hindi na kami nag-aksaya ng time and effort..para hindi na din kami nadisappoint!... but with the fact na kahit yung sales representative huli na nung nalamang my ganun pala silang guideline?..ano yun??..sino dapat sisihin?..sino ba gumagawa ng mga guidelines?..Hindi ba yung may-ari?.. Siguro nga totoo talaga yung mga rumors na si Senator MANNY VILLAR is an ANTI-MUSLIM!..Sayang,ikaw pa naman sana ang gusto ng family ko to be the next president, but everything was changed after the incident.

I post this blog not only in behalf of our family to express our feelings and sentiments, but also to all the muslim community. We shouldn’t be treated like that; we don't deserve to be discriminated!

Siguro nga everything happens for a reason talaga.. that incident serves as an eye opener for us to work harder, strive more, and prove to the world that WE, MUSLIMS are also PROFESSIONALS, LAW ABIDING, and PEACE LOVING PEOPLE. Maybe camella is not meant for us because we deserved other places better than camella!
